Zein E. Obagi, Jr. named to pair of Los Angeles County Bar Association Committees
LOS ANGELES (August 11, 2020) — Zein E. Obagi, Jr., lead counsel at Litigation, P.C., has been named to a pair of Los Angeles County Bar Association committees — further proof of Mr. Obagi’s commitment to advancing the legal profession in Los Angeles and beyond.
LACBA President Tamila C. Jensen appointed Mr. Obagi to the President’s Advisory Committee on Women in the Legal Profession for the 2020-21 year, and the Judicial Appointments Committee for a term of three years, from 2020-23.
Long a proponent of women’s rights, Mr. Obagi brings to the Committee a track record of fighting for equality in the courtroom and in the workplace, including his own.
“Raised with six sisters, I grew up with the knowledge and feeling that girls and boys were equal in every way,” Mr. Obagi said. “With my wife — a successful physician — about to give birth to our daughter, equality for women and the equal professional advancement of women is more important to me than ever.”
That dedication to equality is shown in Mr. Obagi’s approach with:
- Clients; fighting for female workers day in and day out to get them results that meet or exceed those of their male counterparts.
- Employees; ensuring pay equity within his firm.
- Colleagues; helping empower female lawyers through planning roles and speaking engagements within the LACBA Small Firm Section, where he serves as Co-Chair of Programs.
The Judicial Appointments Committee responds to requests by the governor to evaluate individuals under consideration for appointment to the California Superior Court bench.
Possessing more than a decade of experience practicing in courts across California and a commitment to ensuring fairness to all in the legal process, Mr. Obagi brings a perspective to the Committee ideal for the changing legal landscape in California, where judges are overloaded and the cost of litigation continues to skyrocket unnecessarily in unduly prolonged discovery.
With public service and the fight for justice two of his cornerstone beliefs, Mr. Obagi lives and practices the values very much in line with LACBA’s mission “to meet the professional needs to Los Angeles lawyers and advance the administration of justice.”
